I think most photographers get to the end of the year and attempt to clean up the directories of images they have taken over the last year. I know that I am doing it now, and what a chore! Make sure you get rid of what you don’t want to keep, make sure what you do keep is organized and categorized properly, etc. However, it DOES sometimes lead you to some new finds.
Over the course of a full year (or more in this instance) is it possible that you might have learned some new techniques? Is there new software out, or some new plugins that give you a very different capability? Or, in this case for instance, are you just looking at the image a little bit differently than you did when you first took it?
I know that is the case with this image, which looks a lot better larger and on a good monitor, than it does in this small web size. However, I was cleaning out images, went into this folder and then really started to get interested in the shapes of the deck, the mirror image on the water, and then the color of the sky. I went in and did a little magic on it, and think that I got a good peaceful feel to it. Almost makes you want to go get a chair and sit out on the deck, doesn’t it?
This was taken in November of 2003, at Caddo Lake Texas.
I love this one! I would stick a kid in it though. :)
